FALLSTON, MD — A Harford County man who assaulted officers during the Washington, D.C., breach of the Capitol has been sentenced for his involvement in the riot.

Jacob Michael Therres, 25, of Fallston participated in the Jan. 6, 2021, insurrection at the U.S. Capitol with his stepfather Douglas Wyatt, 49, also of Fallston. Therres pleaded guilty to his involvement in January 2023 after he was arrested Nov. 14, 2022.

An investigation revealed that Wyatt assaulted several officers with a chemical spray on the Lower West Terrace of the Capitol among other offenses. Prosecutors said Wyatt handed a long, heavy plank to Therres who used it to hit an officer in the head, which left the man with health issues still today. Therres also sprayed a chemical irritant toward a line of officers.
