Christmas Parade Is Canceled In Bel Air For 2020

The town of Bel Air has canceled the annual Christmas Parade for health and safety reasons.

BEL AIR, MD — The annual Christmas Parade and tree lighting in Bel Air have been canceled for 2020. Town officials cited public health, as the coronavirus continues to spread in the town, across the state and around the country.

"After careful consideration regarding the health and safety of everyone in our town, we have made the difficult decision to cancel this year’s Christmas Parade in downtown Bel Air," according to a statement issued by the town of Bel Air.

The Christmas Parade and tree lighting were slated for Dec. 6.

This is the second year in a row the Christmas Parade has been canceled in Bel Air. In 2019 the Bel Air Downtown Alliance called it off due to weather.

The last time the parade was held was in 2018.

Despite the cancellation of the parade and tree lighting, the town will be illuminated Nov. 28 to ring in the holidays with its Winter Wonderland campaign.
