1 Hospitalized After Tractor-Trailer Crashes On I-95 In HarCo

Traffic was backed up Thursday on I-95 north of MD 24, officials say.

HARFORD COUNTY, MD — One person was taken to a trauma center after a crash on Interstate 95 Thursday in Harford County that resulted in lane closures for nearly five hours, according to officials. Harford County's special operations team was called because fuel was leaking in the area.

A tractor-trailer went off-road near mile marker 78.8 on I-95 south, according to the Abingdon Fire Company, which was dispatched to the call at 4:35 p.m. on Thursday, June 20.

The Bel Air Volunteer Fire Company took one person to a regional trauma center, while hazmat crews handled the saddle tanks where fuel was reportedly leaking, officials said.

"This is still a very active scene — please use caution in the area," the Abingdon Fire Company reported after 6 p.m.

According to the Maryland Transportation Authority, there were lane closures in effect until 9:30 p.m., at which point officials said all lanes had reopened.

INITIAL REPORT — A crash is snarling traffic on Interstate 95 Thursday in Harford County. There are lane closures in effect on I-95 south between the exits for MD 543 and MD 24.

Three vehicles collided in the area of mile marker 78.8 on I-95 south, according to state transportation officials, who reported the crash happened before 4:40 p.m. on Thursday, June 20.

Just before the exit for MD 24, officials said the crash closed the two right lanes and right shoulder; traffic was getting by in the far left lane as of 4:55 p.m.
