Drone Research Facility Breaks Ground In Harford County
A new testing facility for drones will be constructed around the Aldino airport.

ALDINO, MD — A new drone research facility broke ground in Harford County on Monday, March 25. The company behind the project is SURVICE Engineering, a Belcamp-based business that specializes in aircraft survivability.
The drone research facility is expected to become increasingly important as the commercial and military drone technology industry grow.
Among those at Monday's groundbreaking at Harford County Airport in Aldino were Harford County Executive Barry Glassman, Congressman C.A. Dutch Ruppersberger, Senator Robert Cassilly, Delegate Andrew Cassilly, Harford County Council President Patrick Vincenti, Harford County Councilman Chad Shrodes, Harford County Director of Administration Billy Boniface, Harford County Director of Community and Economic Development Len Parrish, Deputy Director of Economic Development Steve Overbay, and Mark Butkiewicz of SURVICE Engineering.

SURVICE Engineering aims to create secure systems for drone communications and enable the unmanned aircraft to deliver supplies to troops, according to ABC 2 News.
