Bel Air Offers Two Drop-Off Spots For Drug Take-Back Day 2017

Participate in the national Drug Take-Back Day on April 29 and help fight addiction in Harford County.

HARFORD COUNTY, MD — Saturday is the 13th annual National Drug Take-Back Day, and Harford County offers several locations for people to dispose of unwanted medications. The annual event that encourages people to clear out their medicine cabinets is coordinated by law enforcement and the DEA.

The current heroin epidemic makes getting rid of unwanted medications more vital than ever, as authorities say prescription pills can be a gateway to heroin.

"Unwanted, expired or unused prescription medications are often an unintended catalyst for addiction," DEA Acting Administrator Chuck Rosenberg said in a statement. "Take-back events like these raise awareness of the opioid epidemic and offer the public a safe and anonymous way to help prevent substance abuse.”
