Edgewood Man Wanted In Arson: Fire Marshal

Authorities allege a man tried to burn down his house after a family dispute.

EDGEWOOD, MD — Authorities are asking for help locating a man wanted in connection with an arson that occurred in Edgewood Wednesday morning.

Shamir Dior Dowe, 28, was last seen running from the scene of a house fire in the 1200 block of Windy Branch Way, according to the Office of the State Fire Marshal. Dowe lives at the house with four relatives.

He is the homeowner's son, and the blaze followed a family dispute during which Dowe allegedly "became enraged and intentionally set a fire inside the house," the fire marshal said in a statement.

Family members discovered the fire in the master bedroom at 8:01 a.m.

Approximately 15 firefighters responded and reportedly brought the fire under control within five minutes.

There was $2,500 in structural damage, officials said, while $2,500 in items inside the home were lost as well.

Deputy state fire marshals and K9 Kachina determined the fire was intentionally set.
