Edgewood Shooter To Be Tried In Delaware First In Aim For Life Sentence: Prosecutor
Harford County's prosecutor says a sentence to fit the Edgewood shootings is unavailable in MD, so the suspect will first be tried in DE.
BEL AIR, MD – The man accused of gunning down five people in Edgewood, three fatally, before driving to Wilmington, Delaware, and shooting a sixth person, will face trial first in Delaware, Harford County State's Attorney Joseph Cassilly announced Monday. The move ensures accused gunman Radee Labeeb Prince would spend the rest of his life in prison if convicted.
"In Delaware, they don't have parole, so a life sentence is a life sentence," Cassilly said. "In Maryland, we have three horrible murders – first-degree murders – and two attempted first-degree murders. For all that carnage, the possible sentence is life in prison."
Said Cassilly: "We can ask the court to make [the sentence] life in prison without the possibility of parole but one, that's still a request; and two, my concern is that the general assembly...has done everything they can to attack long prison sentences. And I'm not sure that life without parole will still be there [as an option] as this defendant serves his sentence."

Police arrested Prince, 37, in Delaware after 7 p.m. on Oct. 18, the culmination of an hours-long manhunt that spanned multiple states. He allegedly opened fire at 8:58 a.m. that day at Advanced Granite Solutions in the Emmorton Business Park in Edgewood, Maryland.
Authorities said three people, co-workers of Prince, were killed: Bayarsaikhan Tudev, 53, of Virginia; Jose Hidalgo Romero, 34, of Aberdeen; and Enis Mrvoljak, 48, with an address in Dundalk.

Two surviving shooting victims remain at the University of Maryland Shock Trauma Center in critical condition, officials said. They are Enoc Villegas Sosa, 38, of North East, and Jose Roberto Flores Gillen, 37, of Edgewood.
After reporting to Advanced Granite Solutions and opening fire on his co-workers, authorities said Prince drove to Wilmington, Delaware, where he shot an acquaintance at 10:46 a.m. He was taken into custody after a tip from the public at 7:05 p.m. on Wednesday, Oct. 18, in Newark, Delaware, officials said.
Prince is being held in Delaware on $2.1 million bond related to the attempted first-degree murder charge in the shooting at a used car dealership in Wilmington.
In collaboration with prosecutors in Delaware, Cassilly said it was determined that Delaware will try Prince first, since that state could hold Prince without the possibility of parole. Additionally, he noted that two victims were still in the hospital in Maryland, and that was "another factor in letting Delaware proceed first."
Said Cassilly: "I can only tell you how frustrating it is for me as a prosecutor to feel that the justice system does not have a proportional penalty for three murders and two attempted murders that is any greater than our sister state has for one attempted first-degree murder."
