Express Toll Lane Update Planned In Abingdon
Want to know what's going on with traffic on Interstate 95 near the Harford-Baltimore county line? An info session in Abingdon is planned.

ABINGDON, MD — If you noticed more traffic than usual on Interstate 95 between Harford and Baltimore counties, it may be from the I-95 Express Toll Lane Northbound Extension project. Transportation officials will update the community on the project at two upcoming meetings. One of the sessions will be in Abingdon, and another will be held in Perry Hall. The same information will be provided at both meetings, according to the host, the Maryland Transportation Authority.
While there will not be a formal presentation, the Maryland Transportation Authority reports its program team will be on hand to field questions and share updates.
Information will be provided about the following, according to officials:

What Is Going On With The Toll Lanes?
Maryland Gov. Larry Hogan in December announced plans to extend the express toll lanes that stop near I-95 at MD 43 into Harford County, so they continue until the exit for MD 24.
The $210 million project will add 7.75 miles to the express toll lanes and improve the highway by reconstructing overpasses and adding capacity.
As the Old Joppa Road and Bradshaw Road overpasses are being redone, both roads will be closed. The Bradshaw Road work is expected to run from January 2019 to July 2020, while the Old Joppa Road portion is slated for May 2019 to September 2020, officials initially reported.
Four noise walls will be installed as part of the toll lane extension project.
In addition to the toll lanes, authorities say a fifth lane will be added to I-95 from Little Gunpowder Falls to MD 152 to MD 24.
The project calls for modifying the MD 24/MD 924 ramp as well.
Work will be complete by December 2022, according to the Maryland Transportation Authority, which has a northeast express toll lanes page on its website. Information sessions on the project were last held in February 2018.
