Fallen Heroes Benefit Concert at Looney's Slated for Sunday

The manager of pub in Bel Air says event will be the 'biggest thing we've ever done.' Funds raised go to first responders in need.

BEL AIR, MD – Looney's is putting together a daylong tribute Sunday to honor the two deputies killed in the line of duty in Harford County earlier this year and to benefit first responders in general.

Bill Larney, the owner of Looney's in Bel Air, was compelled to do something for the community after Senior Deputy Patrick Dailey, 52, and Senior Deputy Mark Logsdon, 43, were shot and killed in Abingdon on Feb. 10.

"He wants it to be the biggest thing we’ve ever done," Looney's General Manager Apryl Jackson told Patch. "There were so many people that wanted to be involved and wanted to donate their time that [a daylong concert] was the best fit."

The Fallen Heroes Benefit Concert features 30 bands, three DJs, auctions and raffles throughout the day. The event is billed as family friendly, with a moon bounce, face painting and costumed characters rounding out the offerings.

All money from ticket sales will go to the Harford County Deputy Sheriff's Benevolent Fund, which supports first responders including law enforcement, EMS providers and firefighters in times of financial need.

"What [Larney] is hoping is that we’ll have such a big turnout that we'll be able to do the event on a yearly basis, since [the fund is] something that needs to be re-upped every year," Jackson said. "He wants to get the community involved every year. He's very adamant that he wants our first responders to know that we have their back, and we appreciate all that they do."

She said the concert is anticipated to draw more than the St. Patrick's Day party at Looney's, which typically draws 3,000 people.

The Fallen Heroes Benefit Concert is from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. on Sunday, April 10, at Looney's Pub, 312 South Main Street, Bel Air. There's a $20 entrance fee. Children under 12 are free. Admission is $10 for those 12 to 18 years old. Parking will be available at the garage downtown and at Bel Air High School, where there will be shuttles running throughout the day.
