Fire At Giovanni's Restaurant Ruled Accidental
Firefighters were called to an early morning blaze Thursday at the Italian restaurant in Edgewood.

EDGEWOOD, MD — A fire at Giovanni's Restaurant in Edgewood early Thursday morning caused $7,000 in damage. The blaze at the Italian restaurant was contained to a dryer, according to the Office of the State Fire Marshal.
At 3:02 a.m., officials said that a smoke alarm activated in the 2100 block of Pulaski Highway in Edgewood. The Harford County Sheriff's Office arrived at the scene and reported there was smoke behind the building, according to authorities.
Firefighters responded and found flames coming from the dryer near the back kitchen door, officials reported. About 30 firefighters controlled the blaze within 10 minutes. Crews came from Joppa-Magnolia, Abingdon, APG, Bel Air and Kingsville, the fire marshal said.

Investigators said the fire was contained to the dryer and caused $2,000 in structural damage. An estimated $5,000 worth of items inside the restaurant were damaged as well.
The fire marshal ruled the dryer fire accidental.

The restaurant owners said Thursday morning that they expected to be closed for a few days.
