Despite initial reports that there was someone trapped, nobody was found inside, according to Jenn Chenworth, spokeswoman for the Harford County Volunteer Fire and EMS Association.

The homeowner had thought her son was in the home but later learned he had left earlier in the evening, according to the fire marshal, who said that the family dog and family cat perished.

There was an estimated $50,000 in damage as a result of the fire — $25,000 in structural damage and $25,000 worth of items lost inside the 15-by-80-foot single-wide manufactured home.

The source of the fire was a dryer in the laundry room, according to the fire marshal.
