First Choice Automotive Puts the Brakes on Breast Cancer

First Choice Automotive puts the Brakes on Breast Cancer by offering FREE brake pads & 10% donation to Breast Cancer Research Fund.

First Choice Automotive is proudly supporting Breast Cancer Awareness Month by participating in the Brakes for Breasts campaign fundraiser where during the month of October this independently-owned auto repair shop is joining 127 other independent shops representing 25 states across the U.S. by offering their customers FREE brake pads and donating 10% of every brake service directly to The Cleveland Clinic Breast Cancer Vaccine Research Fund.

“It gives me peace of mind and comfort knowing that there is a possibility my granddaughters could grow up in a world free from breast cancer. That is why we are doing our part in helping raise awareness and funds to find a cure,” Sue Buchanan, owner of First Choice Automotive, explained.

The Brakes For Breasts fundraiser is different from many breast cancer fundraising campaigns which run during October because funds raised by these independently-owned auto repair shops goes directly to the Cleveland Clinic Breast Cancer Vaccine Fund in order to fund research of a vaccine which will lead to a cure for breast cancer, not just treatments for the disease. 100% of the proceeds goes directly to the Cleveland Clinic with none of the donated profits lost to any type of marketing and administrative fees.

“We are hopeful we will once again achieve our goal in 2014, which is raising $110,000! We are humbled that we have had such great participation, and our growth has been beyond our wildest dreams when we began Brakes for Breasts just 3 short years ago,” Leigh Anne Best, one of the program founders, explains.

The first year (2011), Brakes for Breasts raised $10k with 5 shops in Ohio. In 2012 the program was opened to auto repair shop owners across the country and participation tripled while raising $32,848. In 2013 $66,499 was raised with 100% of their proceeds going to the Cleveland Clinic Breast Cancer Vaccine Fund.

“We can say without hesitation that not one cent has ever gone anywhere but directly to the Vaccine. No marketing fees, no salaries, no rents to pay. ALL of this is done by volunteer efforts,” Leigh Anne Best explains.
