Forest Hill Blaze Displaces Two Residents: Fire Marshal
House fire in Forest Hill caused $70,000 in damage, the Office of the State Fire Marshal reports.

FOREST HILL, MD — Residents were displaced and their home damaged after a house fire in Forest Hill Monday night, according to the Office of the State Fire Marshal.

At 6:36 p.m., the owner of a home in the 2400 block of Dixie Lane discovered there was a fire and notified authorities, the fire marshal reported.

The Bel Air Volunteer Fire Company said when crews first arrived, they saw smoke coming from the back of the house.
Approximately 30 firefighters from Bel Air and Jarrettsville brought the blaze under control within 30 minutes, the fire marshal reported.

The homeowner was treated at the scene for minor smoke inhalation and declined transport to the hospital, according to Senior Deputy State Fire Marshal Oliver Alkire.
The owner and occupant of the home were displaced and were receiving support from the Red Cross, Harford County Disaster Assistance and family, the fire marshal reported.
The two-story wood-framed home sustained $70,000 in damage, according to the report, which said there was $50,000 in structural damage and $20,000 in damage to items within the home.
The fire started in the kitchen, and the cause remained under investigation Tuesday, the report said.
