Forest Hill Motorcyclist Dies In Route 1 Crash: Police
Police said man riding a motorcycle on the Bel Air Bypass north of Rock Spring Road was killed in a crash early Sunday, Aug. 11.
BEL AIR, MD — A Forest Hill man died in a motorcycle crash over the weekend on the Bel Air Bypass. The cause of the crash remains under investigation, police said Monday, Aug. 12.
Michael Lynn Maples, 44, of Forest Hill, was pronounced deceased by emergency medical technicians at approximately 1:45 a.m. on Sunday, Aug. 11, police said.
Maples had been riding a motorcycle north on the Bel Air Bypass when he lost control on US Route 1 past Rock Spring Road, according to Maryland State Police.

The motorcycle went off the road and hit a light pole, officials said.
What caused Maples to lose control of the motorcycle was not clear, police reported Monday.
