Former Bel Air Town Planner Tapped for Leadership Post in Harford County
Jenny King comes to Harford County Department of Planning and Zoning from post as chief of staff at Maryland Department of Planning.

The following information was provided by the office of the county executive.
County Executive Barry Glassman named a former Bel Air town planner Tuesday as the acting deputy director of the Harford County Department of Planning and Zoning.
Jenny B. King was previously employed by the department as a development review planner, a position that involved reviewing residential, commercial and industrial developments.

Most recently, she was the chief of staff chief of staff for the Maryland Department of Planning, where she oversaw state and local coordination plus kept leadership apprised of current issues and trends. In addition, she reviewed comprehensive plans for Harford, Carroll, Frederick and Howard counties and their municipalities and served as the department’s principal staff to the Task Force on the Future for Growth and Development in Maryland, which later became the Maryland Sustainable Growth Commission.
King has a bachelor’s degree in geography and environmental planning from Towson State University.

She will serve under Bradley Killian, who became the county director of planning and zoning in December following an appointment by Glassman.
“We are excited that [King] has agreed to return to Harford County,” Glassman said. “Her prior experience with the town of Bel Air, Harford County, and the Maryland Department of Planning will be a great asset as we move toward updating our Master Plan and Land Use Element Plan.”
In accordance with an amendment to the Harford County Charter approved by voters in November, deputy directors in the executive branch are appointed by the county executive and subject to confirmation by the County Council.
