Fourth Friday Canceled In Bel Air Due To Weather

Plans for the First Friday festivities in Bel Air were rained out on Friday, April 26, according to the Bel Air Downtown Alliance.

BEL AIR, MD — With storms in the forecast, the inaugural Fourth Friday in Bel Air has been canceled. The Bel Air Downtown Alliance, coordinator of the event, announced the cancellation on Friday afternoon.

April 26 was to be the first ever Fourth Friday in Bel Air, designed to draw community members downtown for a block party with drinks, live music and other activities.

But the weather had other plans as severe storms approached the mid-Atlantic Friday afternoon, prompting the National Weather Service to issue a tornado watch until 9 p.m. for most of the state.

BEL AIR, MD — The First Friday celebration in Bel Air will now be the Fourth Friday affair. The Bel Air Downtown Alliance changed its traditional First Friday event so that more people could attend.

Typically, both Havre de Grace and Bel Air hosted First Fridays, and people had to decide between the two.

"Rather than making you choose which event you’d rather attend, we want to encourage you to take your family to both!" the Bel Air Downtown Alliance posted on its Facebook page this week.

The inaugural Fourth Friday event is set for 5 to 8 p.m. on Friday, April 26.

Live music, a beer and wine garden, face painting, games, pit beef from the Main Street Tower and food from Black Eyed Suzie's will be available.

The festivities will be near the intersection of Main Street and Churchville Road, by Black Eyed Suzie's.

Admission is free, and parking in downtown Bel Air is free after 5 p.m. on weekdays.

The event is weather-permitting, according to the Bel Air Downtown Alliance; in the event of bad weather, it will be canceled.
