Garden Hose Used By Resident To Battle Front Porch Fire Before Help Arrived: Official

A resident used a garden hose to try and contain a fire on the front porch before firefighters arrived. The home sustained $50K in damage.

HARFORD COUNTY, MD — A neighbor discovered a fire sparked by a discarded smoking material on the front porch of a Bel Air home Friday at about 4:20 a.m.

Two residents inside the home at the time of the fire were able to get out safely. One of the residents used a garden hose to try and control the fire before the Bel Air Volunteer Fire Company arrived. There was some damage to the home in addition to the porch.

The Office of the Maryland Fire Marshal estimates the damage to the home at $50,000. The two residents have been temporary displaced.
