Harford Co. Schools Alter Monday Schedule Due To Incoming Storms

Forecasters are predicting damaging thunderstorms, hail, potential tornadoes, prompting school officials to alter Monday's schedule.

HARFORD COUNTY, MD — Due to the forecasted weather, Harford County schools and offices will close three hours early Monday.

Morning Early Learners and Learning Together students will ride home on the bus they rode to school, according to school officials.

There will not be any afternoon Early Learners or Learning Together, no after school activities and after school daycare will have one hour for pick-up.

"The timing of this forecast would have an impact on the dismissal process and consequent bus routes and activities. We will re-evaluate in the morning and will update if any additional changes to the schedule are necessary," school officials stated.

Forecasters are warning that the area will experience significant thunderstorms, hail, potential tornadoes and wind gusts of about 75 mph across the region.

"Meteorologists are sounding the alarm for a widespread multiday severe risk stretching across the central and eastern United States from Sunday afternoon into Monday," Accuweather said. "Over a dozen states will be at risk for severe thunderstorms."
