HCC Makes Tuesday Weather Announcement

Get Harford County closing, delay info and road conditions for Tuesday, Feb. 17.

Harford Community College announced before 11 a.m. that it would be closed on Tuesday, Feb. 17. Previously, the campus was planning to open at noon. Both Harford Community College and the Towson University satellite there will be closed.

Harford County Public Schools will be closed on Tuesday, Feb. 17, because of weather conditions, the school system announced at 5 a.m. Tuesday. After-school and evening activities are canceled, and employees are on code green, according to the announcement. Under a code green protocol, schools and offices are closed. Only essential personnel must report. There will be no second shift custodians, and daycare is canceled.

Transportation officials advised citizens not to travel Tuesday if possible. “Stay home,” said State Highway Administration spokesman Charlie Gischlar, just before 5 a.m. He noted pavement temperatures were low (in the teens), snow was continuing to fall and roads may be icy.

At 7:20 a.m., the National Weather Service reported that snow was tapering off in most of the region and would end by mid-morning. Conditions are hazardous and roads are slippery, the weather service reported. Those who must travel should allow for extra time and be careful on snow-packed or untreated roads.

Monday School Closings

  • Harford Community College canceled classes and events after 6 p.m. on Monday, Feb. 16.
  • Harford County Public Schools were closed for Presidents Day.
  • Towson University closed at 6 p.m. Monday. Classes starting at 5:30 p.m. and after were canceled. Otherwise, classes ended at 6 p.m., according to an announcement from the university.
