Harford Executive Cassilly Seeks Public Input on Southern County

Harford County is seeking public input on plans to enhance the quality of life and economic opportunities in areas south of the I-95 corridor that are not served by a municipal government.

County Executive Bob Cassilly formed the Southern County Taskforce in March to review and confirm data and develop action items that will be presented in a report for public review and commentary from 6 – 8 p.m. on Thursday, September 7 at the Edgewood Recreation and Community Center at 1980 Brookside Drive in Edgewood.

The taskforce includes professionals in the Cassilly administration with expertise in various fields such as housing, planning & zoning, public works, emergency services, and economic development. Phase 1 for the taskforce was to identify all data resources concerning the southern county area and develop specific action items that will involve government, private sector, and/or community resources.

In the second phase, government and community leaders were provided an initial report that was also posted on the county website at https://www.harfordcountymd.gov/3659/Southern-County-Taskforce.

“Soon after inauguration, my administration began working to gather data, set targets, and make real improvements for those who live, work, and do business in southern Harford County,” County Executive Cassilly said. “Our goal is to focus government and private resources on the area’s unique challenges and opportunities. I encourage residents, business owners and community organizations to review our initial report and join in the discussion on September 7. We need everyone working together to make all of Harford County the best it can be.”

Following the upcoming meeting, the taskforce will incorporate the public input into an updated plan of action.
