Harford Tech Cobras make history with an amazing season.
The Cobras had a magical season this year and hope it helps them build for the future.
A magical season was brought to an end last night as the Patterson Clippers went on to beat the Harford Tech Cobras 68 to 49. Darius Dangerfield led all scorers with 26 but it just wasn't enough to give tech the victory, Dominic Webb also poured in 10 points, and Jawaun Lucas scored 8 with Dashawn Lucas scoring 5 points. But let us for a moment reflect on Harford Tech's amazing season.
It is often said the third time is a charm, and for the Harford Tech Cobras finally winning the regional championship on their third straight attempt was a major victory. On March 4th the Cobras boys basketball team beat Parkside high to win it's schools first ever boys basketball regional championship, in an interview with Dominic Webb this past Thursday he said that was the goal since Nov 15th the official start of the winter sports season. Webb said "Coach Jones gave us a goal at the beginning of the season and he told us we would win the region this year, we believed him and we did it."
For the first time in school history the boys basketball team beat every public high school in Harford county at least once, started off the season 9-0 and were on a 9-1 run going into Friday nights game. This was one of the hottest teams in Harford county and maybe the state. They won the Governor's Christmas Tournament and overall had one of the greatest seasons any cobra can remember.

Harford Tech's season was truly amazing led by senior guard Darius Dangerfield a four year varsity starter, Dangerfield averaged 23.6 points in his senior season and holds the county record for points at 1800 after scoring 26 points in the state simi final game vs Patterson high school. When asked about his future Dangerfield said "I want to go to college and play ball at the right school, I want to find a school that fits me and I fit them, I want to make an impact early, I want to find another coach that believes in me and will let me help build their program just like we did here at Tech." Without a doubt Mr. Dangerfield will go down as one of the greatest Tech players but possibly one of Harford Counties greatest players.
So what does the future hold for Harford Tech? Coach Jones believes the future looks bright. "We have a lot of guys ready to step up, the twin, Jaquan Hayes, Jalen Dangerfield, and our big guys are going to get bigger and stronger, next year we are returning eight guys so we are ready for guys to step up our jv had about the same record as us, and make another run next year." Coach Jones has done an excellent job over the last eight years turning Harford Techs program around as he said last night "It is now cool to go to Harford Tech and play basketball."

My personal take, I am a Harford Tech alumni, and former boys jv basketball coach. I love this school, I love this program and I love this coach, this is not the last time you will see the Cobras at the Xfinity Center. I believe coach Jones is not only coach of the year but one of the greatest coaches in Harford County and maybe the state and the young men that he has coached are lucky to have had him. Cobras it was a great season and I believe I can say you have made every Cobra proud to have ever been a Cobra, alumni came from everywhere to see you guys play this season. Thank you so much for all your hard work. And to the greats who came before and made this program what it is today thank you as well.
