Havre de Grace 4th Of July 2017: Video From Parade, Fireworks

HAVRE DE GRACE, MD — The 2017 Havre de Grace Independence Day celebration has downtown buzzing on Sunday, July 2.

The theme of the festivities is "Hometown Heroes," with a parade, block party, concert and fireworks display planned.

The city of Havre de Grace was also live-streaming from the grandstand area.

The parade starts at 2 p.m. on Union Avenue near Warren Street and will conclude at Commerce Street.

A block party will follow the parade at 4 p.m. with a "First Friday type atmosphere" with family friendly entertainment downtown along Washington Street.

Following the block party, the city is hosting a special concert. Gates will open at 5 p.m. at Hutchins Park, where the Amish Outlaws will perform at 7 p.m. Tickets were free from the city but "sold out," officials said.

After the concert, fireworks will be launched at 9:15 p.m. near Concord Point. See the map above for the best viewing locations, according to organizers; they are marked with a star.

Schedule For Havre de Grace Independence Day Events on Sunday, July 2:

• 2 p.m. Hometown Heroes Parade
• 4 p.m. Downtown block party
• 7 p.m. Amish Outlaws concert at Hutchins Park. The concert is free. Refreshments will be for sale, with proceeds benefitting Havre de Grace American Legion Joseph L. Davis Post 47.
• 9:15 p.m. Fireworks display

The fireworks will be launched from a barge off Concord Point. Organizers say they will be visible around the city.

Saturday, July 1

Kicking off the festivities will be a breakfast. The Weedon-Elliott VFW 8126 Hometown Heroes Breakfast will take place at the Havre de Grace Community Center, 100 Lagaret Lane, at 8 a.m. on Saturday, July 1. Tickets are $8 and will be available at the Havre de Grace Visitor Center.
