Heroin Dealer Charged After Fatal Edgewood Overdose: Sheriff

A suspected drug dealer whose heroin allegedly killed someone in Edgewood in October is in jail, officials reported.

BEL AIR, MD — A drug dealer wanted in connection with a deadly overdose in Harford County has been arrested, authorities say. He is facing 16 charges and is being held without bail at the Baltimore City jail, court records show. The charges include drug and weapons offenses.

Khalil Sadiq Shaheed, 24, of the 3500 block of Shannon Drive in northeast Baltimore, was identified by investigators as the dealer in a fatal heroin overdose in Edgewood on Oct. 17, the Harford County Sheriff's Office reported.

Detectives from the Harford County Task Force conducted surveillance on Shaheed and said they watched him make several drug deals before arresting him during a transaction around 3 p.m. on Nov. 16 on Bowleys Lane at Sinclair Lane in Baltimore. After he was arrested, officials said they also executed a search warrant on his vehicle and residence, which yielded the following:

  • Loaded 9 mm Sig Saeur handgun
  • Loaded .25 caliber handgun
  • Various calibers of ammunition
  • 76 grams of cocaine
  • 67 grams of heroin
  • 24 grams of crack cocaine
  • $12,000 in cash
  • Drug paraphernalia

Shaheed was charged with the following related to the Nov. 16 arrest, according to court records:

  • Four counts of possession with intent to distribute narcotics
  • Four counts of drug possession other than marijuana
  • Two counts of possessing a firearm related to a drug trafficking crime
  • Two counts of possessing a firearm while distributing drugs
  • Having a handgun in a vehicle
  • Having a handgun on one's person
  • Possession of a stolen firearm
  • Possession of a large amount of drugs

Shaheed was taken to central booking in Baltimore, where was being held without bail. He is slated to appear for a preliminary hearing in Baltimore City District Court on Dec. 12.

The Harford County Task Force includes members of the sheriff's office; Maryland State Police; Aberdeen, Bel Air and Havre de Grace Police Departments; the DEA; and the Harford County State's Attorney's Office. Its mission is to investigate mid to upper-level drug trafficking offenses, vice and homeland security.
