ABERDEEN, MD — The Aberdeen IronBirds will pay tribute this season to Josh Hamer, the John Carroll student-athlete who died in a crash on Route 22 last month.

Hamer, 15, was a star baseball player and beloved member of the John Carroll community.

During a pregame dedication ceremony, the IronBirds will present Hamer's family with a personalized IronBirds jersey and will accept Hamer's John Carroll jersey, which will be put on display at the stadium. The ceremony will take place at 7:05 p.m. on Friday, April 21, at Leidos Field at Ripken Stadium before the baseball game between John Carroll and The Gilman School. Admission is free. Volunteers will be at the stadium entrance to accept $5 donations to support the Josh Hamer Memorial Scholarship Fund.

At the end of the 2017 season, the IronBirds will relocate Hamer’s jersey to the Club Level at Leidos Field at Ripken Stadium, where it will remain in perpetuity.
