ABOUT HOPE LODGE: In 2024, Hope Lodge Baltimore, located at 636 W. Lexington Street, provided more than 13,000 free night stays to more than 500 cancer patients and their caregivers who travelled long distance to Baltimore for cancer treatment, saving them approximately $2.6M in hotel costs. With hotel rooms approximately $220 a night, the average Hope Lodge guest, who may stay four to eight weeks, saves approximately $10,000.

Hope Lodge Baltimore is one of 31 free Hope Lodge communities across the U.S. Housing is a major barrier to accessing cancer care for patients who need to travel far from home to receive the best possible treatment for their cancer. Nearly 38% of the U.S. population over age 35 would have to drive over 50 miles to obtain care at an NCI-funded cancer center, and almost 17% would have to travel 100 miles or more, according to a paper recently published in the Journal of Clinical and Translational Science.

Since 1984, Hope Lodge communities have provided more than 6 million nights of lodging, offering relief not only from the financial burden, but also a community of support at a challenging time.
