Bel Air To Shift Traffic For Outdoor Dining: Police

To accommodate outdoor dining Friday, the Bel Air Police Department is closing part of downtown to vehicular traffic.

BEL AIR, MD — Traffic patterns will be changing in Bel Air starting Friday, police said.

While officials originally said Main Street would be closed to through traffic to allow for outdoor dining starting at 5 p.m. Friday, May 29, they later said Pennsylvania Avenue would be closed between North Main Street and the first entrance of the Pennsylvania Avenue parking lot.

Bel Air Patch has asked town officials for more specifics on the closure, including the duration, and will update this post when more information is available.

Restaurants in Maryland are allowed to offer outdoor dining to patrons effective at 5 p.m. Friday, according to an executive order from Gov. Larry Hogan.

County Executive Barry Glassman waived parts of the county code that would require certain setbacks and parking allotments to facilitate the expansion of restaurants, breweries and bars into the outdoors.

The governor said he was supportive of closing down roads to allow for outdoor dining.
