Man Jumps To His Death From Bel Air Parking Ramp: Police

A 47-year-old Bel Air man experiencing a "mental health crisis" jumped to his death from a parking ramp Sunday, Bel Air Police say.

BEL AIR, MD — A 47-year-old man jumped to his death Sunday shortly before 9 a.m. As soon as the police department was made aware of the situation, a dispatcher monitored parking garage surveillance cameras until officers arrived a few minutes later, according to the police department.

The man, a Bel Air resident, was standing on the top of the Bel Air Parking Garage at 16 S. Hickory Ave. when Bel Air police officers arrived. They tried to "gain the attention" of the man before he jumped. He was declared dead at the scene, according to the Bel Air Police Department.

The victim’s death is being investigated as a suicide.

The Bel Air Police Department urges anyone considering suicide to seek help. Locally, the Klein Family Harford Crisis Center at 802 Bel Air Road in Bel Air is available for walk-in services from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. seven days a week for urgent care walk-in services.
