Holiday light shows are popping up around the state. Here's where to check them out for yourself.

MARYLAND — Light shows around Maryland are spreading holiday cheer. Here are some of the best Christmas light shows around, submitted by Patch readers.

ANNE ARUNDEL COUNTY

1707 Urby Dr., Crofton, MD 21114. Six houses are decorated for Christmas.

1630 Crownsville Rd., Crownsville, MD 21032. A mailbox for letters to Santa, light-up Grinch and Snoopy characters round out this display. People can drive up the driveway (stay to the right and follow it around back down the hill). "For the 2nd year, we have a Letters for Santa mailbox where children can drop off their letters and receive a personalized letter in return," homeowner Cindy Loftus told Patch. "This year I'm at almost 100 received. I will be accepting letters until Dec. 19, then the mailbox will be taken away until next year."

528 Delmar Ave., Glen Burnie, MD 21061. Lights are on from 5:30 to 10 p.m. through December at "Christmas in Glen Burnie," which features Mickey Mouse riding a train around the yard, other characters and Christmas music synchronized to the lights; tune in to 107.1 FM. Snow comes out of a snowmaker. There is also a mailbox for delivering letters to Santa at this attraction in its 36th year.

1221 Sedge Ct., Pasadena, MD 21122. For nine years, the residents have created a House of Christmas at 1221 Sedge Court. A snow machine and two cutouts were added this year.

8126 Quarterfield Farms Dr., Severn, MD 21144. Lights are on from to 11 p.m. at this show created by a student at the University of Maryland who recommends coming when it's not raining.

1545 Ringe Dr., Severn, MD 21144. This home has 1,950 feet of lights, 63 inflatables, 36 arches and 17 reindeer. The owner calls it "Mamulaville." More information is posted on mamulaville.com.

1209 Falcon Point Drive Severn, MD 21144. Featuring a synchronized light show and a model village window display, this display in Jacobs Forest runs between sunset and 9 p.m.

BALTIMORE CITY

3400 Royston Ave., Baltimore, MD 21214. Lights are on from 5 to 9:30 p.m. at this home in Hamilton, known as Miracle at 3400 Royston.

345-227 St. Paul Place, Baltimore, MD 21202. Featuring a Victorian Christmas theme, Mercy Holiday Gardens features penguin figures, a gingerbread house, dancing ice skaters, horse and sleigh, gift boxes and angels. The show is a gift to the people of Baltimore from the Sisters of Mercy and Mercy Medical Center and will stay on until Jan. 4, 2021.

34th Street, Baltimore, MD 21211. The block between Keswick Road and Chestnut Avenue is decked out for Miracle on 34th Street, with a white light theme on one side and colored lights on the other.

5212 Springlake Way, Baltimore MD 21212; this display in Homeland has 20,000 lights and 14 LED spotlights, according to homeowner Christopher Heller, who says it is on from dusk until dawn. "I have been changing out the LED color spotlights to adjust the look nightly," he told Patch. He said he added more lights than usual because "we could all use a little extra joy" this season.

BALTIMORE COUNTY

9202 Philadelphia Rd., Rossville, MD 21237. Lights are on at this home next to Rosedale Baptist from 4:30 p.m. until midnight unless it is raining a lot.

1510 Galena Rd, Essex, MD 21221. Eight light shows synchronized to music are shown daily from 5 to 9 p.m. weekdays and 5 to 10 p.m. on weekends. Tune to 101.7 FM or listen from the speaker.

9106 Deborah Ave., Nottingham, MD 21236. Lights on 5-10 p.m. Santa and the Grinch will be ready to take pics on Saturdays, weather permitting, and there will be snow on Saturdays too.

8418 Coco Rd., Rosedale, MD 21237. Tune your car Radio to FM 89.1 to view the Lights on Coco. Santa Saturday is 6-8 p.m. on Dec. 12 and Dec. 19. He will be waving to the kids. Children can yell their lists to Santa from the car, and the lights dance to the music.

HARFORD COUNTY

121 Taunton Ct., Abingdon, MD 21009; lights are on from sunset (around 6) until 10 p.m. The Holiday Home on Taunton Court features homemade decorations like polar bears, snowmen, penguins and a nativity scene. The display raises money for the American Heart Association.

1722 Edwin Drive, Bel Air, MD 21015. Brad's Christmas Light Show is open 5:30–10 p.m. Friday and Saturday and 5:30–9:30 p.m. Sunday to Thursday until Jan. 1. Listen to 92.7 FM to hear the soundtrack to this light show. People can donate to the Make-A-Wish Mid-Atlantic at a box in front of the house or online. Turn off headlights and do not block driveways.

1111 Cedar Lane, Bel Air, MD 21015. Cedar Lane Holiday Light Show, weather-permitting, is open daily 6–10 p.m. The show has mega trees, just under 50K lights, an 8-foot matrix and fog effects. A remix from the Broadway hit "Hamilton" is part of the soundtrack, as is "We Stand As One," highlighting national unrest, the pandemic and those suffering from diseases like Type-1 diabetes. Tune in to 107.9 FM. Funds will be donated to JDRF — researching and developing a cure for Type-1 diabetes (TD1).

3107 Nova Scotia Road, Bel Air, MD 21015. The Spencer Family Holiday Lights shine 5 p.m.–midnight until Jan. 3. More than 175 blow molds plus other inflatables and sculptures are on display, courtesy of the Spencer family, which has been decorating for more than 15 years. About 5,000 lights are out this year and so is a mega tree.

1200 E. Churchville Road, Bel Air, MD 21014. St. Matthew Lutheran Church's Christmas Festival of Lights runs from 6–10 p.m. Sunday–Thursday and 6–11 p.m. Friday and Saturday. The drive-thru display off Route 22 is set to music. From Friday to Sunday, the church opens to showcase its train garden and serves up hot cocoa. People must wear face coverings to go inside. Donations of nonperishable goods will go to the church's food pantry.

1202 Peachtree Rd., Fallston, MD 21047; open 5:15-9 p.m. daily. The display features a Ferris wheel, dog park, mailbox and other items that were handmade.

1715 Oakmont Rd., Fallston, MD 21047; lights will be on from dusk to dawn, from 4:30 p.m.-7:30 a.m. at this Harford County Public Schools bus, which has been transformed for the holidays.

227 Kershaw Ct., Joppa, MD 21085; Santa will be at Kris Kringle's Christmas House Dec. 13, 19 and 20, weather permitting. Artist Teresa Stepp made this Santa house, which currently has a singing Santa inside. A real, live Santa Claus will be in Joppatowne to greet children 4–7 p.m. on Sunday, Dec. 13; Saturday, Dec. 19; and Sunday, Dec. 20. Nonperishable goods will be donated to the Joppatowne Christian Church.

HOWARD COUNTY

Green Angels Landscaping, 10475 State Route 108, Columbia, is hosting a drive-thru light display from 6 to 10 p.m. Dec. 6, Dec. 12 and Dec. 13. Masks are required, and people are asked to remain in their cars unless the weather is nice, at which time people can get out and peruse the gardens, check out the train, a garden lady and a waterfall. The display honors front-line heroes.

"An acrylic Angel of light is featured on the main patio, specifically dedicated to our Heroes," Donna Gorjon of Green Angels Landscaping said. "Angels represented in the Garden of Light symbolize the hope, love and encouragement of our community of Pandemic Heroes."

Said Gorjon: "The 'Garden of Light' provides an opportunity for their families to cherish and share a moment of light and peace together" and "captures the spirit of the holiday in our small way."

Donated food items will be accepted for the Howard County Food Bank.

MONTGOMERY COUNTY

215 Autumn Wind Way, Rockville, MD 20850. This year's display features 104 inflatables on more than 1.5 acres. The homeowner began decorating with inflatables in 2003.

1609 Sherwood Rd., Silver Spring, MD 20902. Lights are on from 4 p.m. to midnight and 6 to 8 a.m. daily at this house, which has an "eclectic mix of holiday animals, science, and our hobbies scuba diving and cycling," homeowner Everett Redmond said. "All of the unique motifs on the house walls were personally hand made."

QUEEN ANNE’S COUNTY

1169 Shopping Center Rd., Stevensville MD 21666. The Kent Isand Farmers Market at Cult Classic Brewery lights up the night through the end of February. It is open 3:30–6:30 p.m. Thursdays, except it will be moved to Tuesday the week of Christmas. The length of the brewery wall is illuminated with lasers, some dancing to Christmas music. "We hope to bring light, joy and the safest way to shop for local fresh and take away food through a dark time," market coordinator Diane Bedlin said. Nonperishable food donations and gently used coats will be collected.
