Memorial, Fundraiser to Honor Beloved Firefighter
Two events this week will pay tribute to William 'Bill' Frank, who served Joppa-Magnolia and Abingdon fire companies.
There will be a memorial service this week for the past assistant chief of the Abingdon Fire Company.
William “Bill” Frank died unexpectedly on Monday, Oct. 12, while at work while off-duty from the fire service, according to a statement from the Joppa-Magnolia Volunteer Fire Company. He was 42.
A memorial service will take place at 7 p.m. on Tuesday, Oct. 20, in the Joppa-Magnolia Volunteer Fire Company Hall at 1403 Old Mountain Road South in Joppa. Doors will open at 6 p.m.

Frank leaves behind two children, a wife and large family that loved him. A fundraiser for them is planned for Friday, Oct. 23, at the Main Street Tower, 29 South Main Street, in Bel Air.
In addition, to help with cremation expenses, the fire company said members started a GoFundMe account.

Before joining Joppa-Magnolia in 2015, Frank spent nearly two decades serving the Edgewood, Joppa, Abingdon and surrounding communities, rising through the ranks to first assistant fire chief at Abingdon Fire Company:
