Murder Charges Filed In Death Of Edgewood Teen Maleigha Solonka
Police said a Havre de Grace teen has been indicted in the death of Maleigha Solonka, 15, of Edgewood.

BEL AIR, MD — More than a year after an Edgewood girl was strangled to death, officials said a grand jury issued an indictment. A Havre de Grace teen has been charged with two counts of murder in her death.
Maleigha Solonka, 15, was found deceased by Havre de Grace police officers dispatched for a report of a body in the woods on Aug. 16, 2017. She was located in the 400 block of Webb Lane in Havre de Grace.
Police previously said her death was caused by asphyxiation, and the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner ruled the death a homicide.

Naeshawn Jahiem-Troy Perry, 17, of the 1200 block of Battery Drive in Havre de Grace, was indicted on first and second-degree murder charges in connection with the death of the 15-year-old Edgewood girl, police said on Tuesday, Aug. 28.
Detectives from the Havre de Grace Police Department presented evidence to a grand jury that led to the indictment, police reported.

According to Fox 45, Perry and Solonka had at one point been dating.
Solonka had disappeared from her Windsor Valley in Edgewood a week before her body was found, and relatives told ABC 2 News at the time that they thought her death was an act of domestic violence.
