OC Brewing Company To Change Into Seafood Restaurant

ABINGDON, MD — Changes are ahead for one of the restaurants on The Boulevard at Box Hill. OC Brewing Company will reportedly reopen as a seafood restaurant by the spring.

Conrad's Seafood is planning to take over the space after OC Brewing Company surrendered its liquor license on Dec. 4, The Aegis reported.

OC Brewing Company opened in Abingdon in 2015.

Chris Conrad, of Fallston, whose brother owns Conrad's Seafood in Perry Hall, told The Aegis that he hopes to make some minor renovations, such as enclosing the playground, and building a menu slightly different from the Perry Hall restaurant that includes daily sushi offerings and a children's menu, with the goal of opening Conrad's in Abingdon by April 2019.

It will be the third restaurant to open in the location in four years. OC Brewing Company went into the spot where Joe's Crab Shack used to be after that restaurant shuttered in 2015.

Joshua Aaron Shores, 44, who opened OC Brewing Company in Abingdon in December 2015, was sentenced to five years in prison for wire fraud in 2017 related to sports memorabilia businesses he ran in Maryland and Pennsylvania.

Shores admitted he opened 80 bank accounts at five different institutions, in his name and others who didn't know he was using their identities, from 2008 to 2013. He collected $2.5 million in sales through his various memorabilia businesses after he purchased jerseys in bulk from China, forged autographs of sports figures and created false certificates of authenticity.

After Shores pleaded guilty to the federal charges, his mother took the helm of the businesses in Ocean City and Abingdon.

The flagship location in Ocean City is under new management and will transition to the name Ironweed Ale Werks, according to the Salisbury Daily Times.

OC Brewing Company opened locations in Reisterstown and Elkridge in 2016 and 2017, which Yelp reports have both closed since then.
