BEL AIR, MD — The Baltimore Ravens have honored Patterson Mill football coach Steve Lurz by naming him the high school coach of the week, after the Huskies dug deep emotionally for a win during a time of pain and loss for the team.
The Huskies took on the Rising Sun Tigers on Thursday, Oct. 20, with a purposeful hole on the field, sending out one fewer person than usual in the lineup to acknowledge the absence of offensive guard Isaac Pfarr, 17, who passed away on Sunday, Oct. 16.
“Isaac was a great teammate because you knew he was going to give you his all every day – whether that was in practice or a game – and we will miss him dearly,” Lurz told the BaltimoreRavens.com. “The kids had one goal in mind last Thursday – win for Isaac."

Each week, the Ravens select a coach who has made a significant impact on his student-athletes during the regular high school football season. Lurz was named this week's coach, the Ravens announced Wednesday.

"We didn’t do anything special," Lurz said, "but the boys were ultra-focused and filled with extra emotion...”
Because he was named high school coach of the week, Patterson Mill will receive a $2,000 donation to its football program. Lurz will also receive an award from Ravens head coach John Harbaugh and attend the Dec. 18 matchup at M&T Bank Stadium between the Ravens and Eagles, where the Ravens High School Coach of the Year will be announced.
