Porta-Potty Blast in Forest Hill Under Investigation: Fire Marshal

Investigators ask for information in fireworks incident at Friends Park.

The Office of the State Fire Marshal says it is investigating a blast at a porta-potty in a Harford County park.

A local resident notified authorities that there was a blast at Friends Park on East Jarrettsville Road at 4:56 p.m. on Tuesday, March 10, according to the fire marshal.

Investigators determined that fireworks had been set off inside a portable restroom, the fire marshal reported.

Four firefighters from the Bel Air Volunteer Fire Company responded, according to the report. The Office of the State Fire Marshal remained at the scene for approximately 90 minutes conducting a post-blast investigation, the report said.

According to the fire marshal, illegal fireworks were detonated inside a park porta-potty, causing $1,000 in damage. The portable toilet was owned by United Site Services, the fire marshal reported.
