Weigh In On Harford County's Proposed Budget At Two Townhall Meetings Thursday, Monday

Residents are encouraged to attend a townhall meeting to provide input about Harford County's proposed FY2024 budget.

HARFORD COUNTY, MD — Starting Thursday, the community can attend a series of in-person meetings discussing Harford County's proposed fiscal year 2024 budget.

“Although Harford County’s economy is relatively strong, we must spend prudently in light of the present economic uncertainty, inflation, high interest rates and the loss of previous Federal stimulus dollars. Harford County’s anticipated expenditures are greater than our anticipated revenues, meaning that we have a structural deficit. My administration and I are crafting a budget that carefully stewards hard-earned tax dollars to support essential services without tax increases,” Harford County Executive Bob Cassilly said. “With costs rising on everything from
eggs at the grocery store to new tires for a family car, it is my responsibility to ensure the county’s spending decisions are in line with the financial challenges our residents and small businesses face daily.”

The first townhall meeting will be Thursday at 6 p.m. at the Edgewood Activity Center, 1980 Brookside Drive in Edgewood. The second meeting will be Jan. 30 at 6 p.m. at the Jarrettsville Volunteer Fire Company, 3825 Federal Hill Road in Jarrettsville.

“As we steward your hard-earned tax dollars, my budget team and I look forward to hearing directly from Harford residents about their priorities,” Cassilly said. “I want everyone to know that whether they speak at a public hearing or send an email, their input will help guide our decisions for next year’s budget.”
