Retro Fitness Opens in Bel Air

Decor looks reminiscent of decades past, while equipment is high-tech.

A new, brightly colored gym has opened its doors in Bel Air.

Retro Fitness on Baltimore Pike uses vibrant color schemes to create an atmosphere that is fun and energizing for gym-goers.

It’s in the space where Gold’s Gym used to be.

Some features at the more than 19,000-square-foot Retro Fitness gym in Bel Air:

  • App to track workouts
  • Full-service locker rooms
  • Pro shop

“Retro Fitness is not just about giving members a workout facility to help them achieve their fitness goals; it’s about providing an experience that keeps them wanting to come back to achieve those goals and push themselves even further,” Bel Air franchise owner Todd Spahr said.

The founder of Retro Fitness, which originated in New Jersey, told the Towson Times that the idea was to “retro-fit” your body.

“Get back the you that you always loved,” it says on the Retro Fitness website.

The gym has more than 115 locations nationwide, including in Jessup, Lanham and Rockville in Maryland. The Bel Air gym opened on Jan. 3. Memberships start at $19.99.

Retro Fitness is located at 802 Baltimore Pike Road in Bel Air, where Gold’s Gym used to be.
