Riverside McDonald's Blaze Causes $30K in Damage: Fire Marshal

The Office of the State Fire Marshal identifies cause of fire at McDonald's on Easter Sunday on Riverside Parkway.

BELCAMP, MD – Authorities said that a malfunctioning fryer caused a fire at McDonald's on Easter in Belcamp.

McDonald's employees reported the fire at 4:55 p.m. on Sunday, according to the Office of the State Fire Marshal.

Approximately 25 firefighters responded to the 1300 block of Riverside Parkway and brought the blaze under control in 10 minutes, the fire marshal reported.

The fire was ruled accidental; it started in the fryer due to a malfunction in the operating system, according to the report.

Despite a fire suppression system in place, the blaze caused an estimated $30,000 in damage—the fire marshal said approximately $25,000 worth of items were lost, while there was also $5,000 in structural damage.
