Severe Thunderstorm Closes Roads In Harford County

BREAKING: Several roads are impacted by fallen trees, high water Tuesday night in Harford County due to severe weather.

HARFORD COUNTY, MD — Multiple roads have been closed in Harford County Tuesday evening in the aftermath of severe thunderstorms. High water and fallen trees are impacting traffic, according to the Maryland State Highway Administration.

A severe thunderstorm warning is in effect for Bel Air South, Abingdon, Perryman, Riverside, Belcamp and Harford Furnace until 10 p.m. on Tuesday, July 3.

Wind gusts of 60 mph were detected by radar in the Perryman area at 9:23 p.m. with a storm that was moving south, according to the severe thunderstorm warning.

Cloud-to-ground lightning and torrential rain were occurring, and people should move indoors to stay safe from falling branches or flying objects, the National Weather Service warned.

Transportation officials advised the following intersections were impacted by Tuesday night's severe weather:

  • MD 136 was closed at Harmony Church Road due to utility problems.
  • MD 136 at McFadden Road was closed for a fallen tree.
  • MD 24 was closed between St. Marys Road and MD 165 for high water.
  • MD 624 was closed at St. Mary's Road due to a fallen tree.
