Churchville Barricade Involved Domestic Incident: Sheriff

Part of Route 22 was closed for hours on Tuesday, the Harford County Sheriff's Office reports; nobody was injured.

CHURCHVILLE, MD — A domestic dispute drew deputies to a residence Tuesday in Churchville, where a couple barricaded themselves inside, prompting an hours-long standoff, according to the Harford County Sheriff's Office.

Authorities said they responded to the unit block of Woodside Drive at 8 a.m. for a report of a domestic incident but were unable to reach the two people inside.

Several hours later, the woman came out, and the man exited 30 minutes later and was taken for an emergency evaluation to Harford Memorial Hospital, the sheriff's office reported.

No charges have been filed, and nobody was injured, officials reported Tuesday.

During the barricade, Route 22 was closed between Aldino and Glenville roads, and Harford County issued robocalls to alert citizens about the police activity.

A section of MD 22 in Churchville will reopen Tuesday afternoon following a barricade situation, according to the Harford County Sheriff's Office.

The suspect in the barricade was taken into custody, officials said after noon.

During the barricade, Route 22 was closed between Aldino and Glenville roads.

The barricade was on Woodside Drive, the sheriff reported.

The incident affected all lanes on Route 22, which was shut down after 10:15 a.m. to both north and southbound traffic, state transportation officials reported.

Before 12:15 p.m., officials said Route 22 was expected to reopen shortly.
