Twins Marry Twins At Twinsburg Twins Day Festival

TWINSBURG, OH — In a story seen alternately as either doubly sweet or doubly weird, two pair of identical twins were married in a double ceremony last weekend at the 2018 Twins Day Festival in Twinsburg, Ohio, where they had met the year earlier.

Brittany Deane said “I do” to Josh Salyers while Briane Deane and Jeremy Salyers did the same Saturday during their “twice upon a time”-themed double ceremony Saturday. Twin ministers officiated. The sisters’ dresses matched. So did brothers’ tuxedos.

Everything about their wedding was matchy-matchy — just as it was last February when the Salyers brothers, 34, lured the Deane sisters, 32, to Twin Lakes State Park in Virginia under the pretense of a photography shoot.

In the carefully choreographed surprise proposal, the men dropped to their knees and proposed when the director — actually a member of an Inside Edition camera crew — shouted “action!” Of course, the sisters said “yes” in unison. Inside Edition broadcast the story on Valentine’s Day.

The women, both lawyers who had been practicing together in an undisclosed city in Virginia when they met their prospective husbands, told People magazine their wedding was a fulfillment of a childhood dream.

“It’s really been a fairy tale come true,” Briana said. “Marrying twins is something that’s very important to us. Even when we were little girls I can remember in kindergarten, knowing what we saw for ourselves.”

Brittany added: “We knew that the chances were incredibly scarce. The stars had to align for our dreams to come true. I get to marry the man of my dreams and at the same time I get to look over next to me and see my twin sister marrying the man of her dreams.”

Their husband also hadn’t seen themselves getting married unless they could marry twins.

The couples met last year on the final day of the Twins Day Festival. When she spotted their future husbands, Brittany squeezed her sister’s hand and said: “Oh my gosh, I just saw the most handsome twin men,” according to an account by The News Journal in Wilmington, Delaware, where the sisters grew up.

The brothers, who worked in the same manufacturing plant in Hagerstown, Maryland, decided to prolong their trip to Twinsburg after meeting the sisters when the four ran into one another in a hotel hallway just as the brothers were about to check out.

They “struck up a conversation about their twin relationship and life, and we found out they were very similar to us,” Josh said at the time. “I was instantly drawn to Brittany. We actually stayed a little longer to try and talk with them some more.”

Their symmetry is so perfect that they married in birth order. Jeremy and Briana, who were born first are known as “twin As,” and Josh and Brittany are “twin Bs.”

They’re all looking forward to living and raising their children together in the same house.

“When we have children, my and Josh’s children will be genetic siblings to Briana and Jeremy’s children,” Brittany told People. “Even though they’re cousins, they’re technically genetic siblings. We imagine it will be like two moms and two dads all raising our families together.”

The TLC network will broadcast a one-hour special on the Deane-Salyers double wedding in early 2019.

The Twinsburg Twins Day Festival is billed as the world’s largest gathering of twins and other multiples. This year, visitors were asked to dress as their favorite video or arcade characters, or draw inspiration from classic card games, board games, role-playing games, or video game themed movies.
