Sculpture In Bel Air Designed To Inspire

The new sculpture, called "Queen Anne's Lace," was installed recently near the Hickory Avenue parking garage in Bel Air.

BEL AIR, MD - A new sculpture has been installed in Bel Air near the Hickory Avenue parking garage.

"Queen Anne's Lace" was commissioned by the Bel Air Cultural Arts Commission.

"The Commission chose 'Queen Anne’s Lace' for this particular space because of what the sculpture represents," Cultural Arts Commission chair Kristien Foss said in a statement. "Queen Anne’s lace is a perennial, and perennials grow back and bloom year after year."

She continued: "As residents of Bel Air and our visitors pass by this sculpture or enter the parking garage, we hope they are inspired by the message offered by the sculpture that life renews."

The sculpture was created by Matthew Harris of Harris Metalsmith Studio in Perryville (pictured above), who told the commission that the piece was inspired by a walk through Ladew Topiary Gardens.
