Sirens At Peach Bottom To Sound Wednesday

The nuclear power plant on the Susquehanna River will conduct a test Wednesday afternoon.

Sirens will sound Wednesday as part of a test at Peach Bottom Atomic Power Station.

The test will start at 1 p.m. on Wednesday, June 7, and last for three minutes, according to Exelon, which operates the facility.

The nuclear power station tests its sirens biannually, once in June and again in December.

The alert system includes 97 outdoor sirens installed in a 10-mile warning zone around Peach Bottom's campus along the Susquehanna River.

Under non-test circumstances, the sirens would go off to signal to citizens that they should listen to an Emergency Alert Broadcast Station to get information from state authorities.
