Squirrels Caused Car Fire In Bel Air: Official

BEL AIR, MD — Bushy-tailed culprits were identified as the cause of a car fire Monday in Bel Air, officials said. A group of squirrels had nested in the engine compartment of a vehicle, according to Rich Gardiner of the Bel Air Volunteer Fire Company.
Crews were called to the 1500 block of Rock Spring Road, Gardiner said, where they put out a car fire that was also captured on video.
The cause? Squirrels had made a nest in the engine compartment, he said.

According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, owners should regularly inspect the interior and exterior of their vehicles to prevent rodents from colonizing there.
