Student Charged In Pepper Spray Incident In Edgewood Bathroom

Three people were pepper-sprayed in the Edgewood High School bathroom, according to the Harford County Sheriff's Office.

EDGEWOOD, MD — An Edgewood High School student has been charged with assault and other crimes after she allegedly pepper-sprayed another girl Wednesday morning on campus. The teen was charged as a juvenile, according to the Harford County Sheriff's Office.

Three people were treated by the school nurse as a result of the altercation, which happened around 7:15 a.m. on Wednesday, Dec. 19, authorities said.

According to investigators, the 16-year-old student targeted another girl and shot pepper-spray in her direction in the bathroom at the school in the 2400 block of Willoughby Beach Road.

Two other students in the bathroom at the time were also exposed to the substance, and all were treated by the school nurse.

The suspect, who is being charged as a juvenile, is not being identified.

Officials said the Edgewood student was referred to the Department of Juvenile Services, which is charging her with second-degree assault, having a weapon on school property and disturbing school operations.
