Tyler James Pope, 17, of Bel Air, Maryland, died suddenly on Aug. 28, 2017. He was born in Knoxville, Tennessee, on June 27, 2000. Tyler was the beloved son of Tina Kummelman and brother and best friend to Emily Pope.
He was starting his senior year of high school, an avid lacrosse player and a member of Ground Control for C. Milton Wright High School. His dedication, heart and humor made him friend to many. He is survived by his mother, Tina Kummelman, his sister Emily Pope, his maternal grandmother, Mary E. Lindenmuth; maternal grandparents Carey and Linda Kummelman; paternal grandfather Cecil Pope. He is also survived by his Aunt Michele and Uncle Robert Hall, and his cousins Ellise and Dylan Hall; great uncles and aunts Glenn McKim, Mark and Jaqueline McKim, Kathy McKim, Danny Everett, Robert Chilcoat, David Kummelman, Michael and Diane Kummelman, and many cousins. He will be truly missed by his girlfriend Devin Smallman and his many, many friends, coaches and teammates.
Relatives and friends are invited to call at the Schimunek Funeral Home of Bel Air, Maryland, located 610 West MacPhail Road, on Saturday, Sept. 2, from 3 to 5 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. Funeral services will be held at this location on Sunday, Sept. 3, at 11 a.m.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the C. Milton Wright lacrosse team or the Kennedy Krieger wheelchair lacrosse team.
