Threat Led to Lockdown at Fountain Green Elementary: Sheriff

The Harford County Sheriff's Office reports threat was 'not...credible.'

Students and staff at Fountain Green Elementary School were locked inside their building on Fountain Green Road Monday morning as officials investigated a threat, according to the Harford County Sheriff’s Office.

“This morning, a threat was made against Fountain Green Elementary School,” the sheriff’s office said in a statement Monday afternoon.

“Through investigation, the threat was determined not to be credible,” the statement said.

Deputies checked the building and will continue to monitor the school through the rest of Monday, the sheriff’s office reported.

The school will remain on lockdown until dismissal, according to Jillian Lader, spokeswoman for Harford County Public Schools.

The full statement from the Harford County Sheriff’s Office is below:

This morning, a threat was made against Fountain Green Elementary School. Through investigation, the threat was determined not to be credible. We take all threats very seriously, and in an overabundance of caution, patrol deputies from the Northern Precinct of the Harford County Sheriff’s Office quickly responded, conducted checks of the building, and will continue to monitor the school throughout the day.

The sheriff’s office was notified of a phone threat against students at the school at approximately 11:15 a.m. Monday, according to The Aegis, which reported Fountain Green’s afternoon field day activities were canceled as a result.
