Traffic Around Abingdon To Increase For Boy's Funeral, Viewing

There may be an uptick in traffic around Abingdon on Monday and Tuesday, the Harford County Sheriff's Office advises.

HARFORD COUNTY, MD — Traffic may be heavier than usual around Abingdon early this week. Mourners will be gathering to pay tribute to Tripp Johnson, 7, who died in a March 11 crash on MD 24. As a result, the Harford County Sheriff's Office issued a traffic advisory.

"Due to the viewing and funeral for Tripp Johnson, we are expecting an increase in traffic at several locations in Harford County over the next two days," the sheriff's office said in a statement on Monday, March 25.

Specifically, authorities anticipate delays from 2:30 to 9:30 p.m. on Monday, March 25, and 10:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. on Tuesday, March 26, on Abingdon Road near St. Francis de Sales Catholic Church, which is located at 1450 Abingdon Road in Abingdon.

"Please allow for extra travel time and be patient..." officials said. "We continue to mourn with all of Harford County over the tragic death of this young boy. Please keep his family in your prayers during this difficult time."

Tripp was a student at William Paca/Old Post Road Elementary School known for brightening the lives of others.

He was killed in a 12-car crash on MD 24 at Ring Factory Road that also took the life of ShopRite owner Andrew Klein.
