Victim Rescued From Fallston Trench In Critical Condition
Authorities said a man rescued from a trench in Harford County was airlifted for treatment.
FALLSTON, MD — A man who had been stuck in a trench Wednesday was in critical condition after being rescued, according to officials. He was flown to a regional trauma center for treatment.
Crews were dispatched at 11:26 a.m. to the 2000 block of Fallsgrove Way for a report of a person trapped in a trench up to his chest, according to the Fallston Volunteer Fire and Ambulance Company.
The Harford County technical rescue and hazardous materials teams were among those who came to the rescue, along with fire and EMS personnel, said Rich Gardiner, spokesman for the Harford County Volunteer Fire and EMS Association.

At 12:02 p.m., the victim was freed, and officials said he was flown to a regional trauma center.
The Maryland Occupational Safety and Health Administration was investigating.

According to WBAL, the victim escaped the trench after crews gave him a shovel so he could dig his way out.
