BALTIMORE COUNTY, MD — Attorneys for the Cockeysville man accused of shooting two Baltimore County law enforcement officers during a three-day manhunt in February want to delay his trial, citing the need for more time to gather evidence, according to multiple reports.

David Linthicum is charged with five counts of attempted first-degree murder and several other charges after police arrested him following an eight-hour standoff in a wooded area of Harford County on Feb. 10. Authorities said during the manhunt, Linthicum shot a Baltimore County police officer and detective.

Linthicum’s trial date is currently set for Nov. 2, but in court Monday, Linthicum's attorneys said there was no way they would be ready in time, blaming the state for delays in obtaining evidence like body-worn camera footage, WBFF reported.

Defense attorneys also are waiting for several records regarding the investigation, as well as reports connected to two past cases the Baltimore County Police Department handled involving people in emotional distress, according to WBAL.

A new hearing was scheduled for next month to discuss a change in court date, reports said.
