Vehicle from Carjacking Recovered: Bel Air Police

Police said the vehicle stolen near the Bel Air Plaza was recovered in Baltimore City.

BEL AIR, MD — Hours after an 87-year-old man was carjacked near the Bel Air Plaza, police said his vehicle was found in Baltimore City.

Two men with a gun carjacked the BMW near the Kelly Avenue entrance to the shopping center Tuesday morning, according to the Bel Air Police Department.

At 5:48 a.m., the vehicle was reported stolen, and the Bel Air Police Department and Baltimore Regional Auto Theft Task Force reported they found it hours later.

While officials kept the car under surveillance until approximately 8 p.m. on Tuesday, police said the suspects remained at large.

Officials said that the 87-year-old victim was in his black 3 series BMW near the Kelly Avenue entrance to the Bel Air Plaza shopping center when two men with a handgun forced him from his car. He was not injured.

The victim had been on his way to a diner in the area for breakfast, according to Fox 45.

When officers responded to the scene, they found a vehicle in the parking lot that had been reported stolen in an armed carjacking in Baltimore City last week, on Thursday, Aug. 11, police said.
