BEL AIR, MD — A driver hit the gas instead of the brake inside a hospital parking garage, rear-ending another vehicle.

According to the Bel Air Police Department, the incident happened around 10:30 a.m. Friday on the first floor of the Upper Chesapeake Medical Center near the entrance.

The investigation showed that while the at-fault vehicle was entering the garage, the driver inadvertently accelerated, which caused the vehicle to hit a second vehicle. The initial vehicle then became impaled on a parking bollard, or pole, inside the garage, the police department stated.
